March 24-25, 2012 - Shabbona Weekend


SHABBONA WEEKEND
March 24-25, 2012

Fishing, hiking, camping, cooking, curvival shelter, and great weather were some of the things to be remembered from this weekend. fishing took place at Lake shabbona, hiking at Chief Shabbona Forest Preserve, with camping and cooking. Dinner included sirloin steak, pork chops, and pork steak, with baked potatoes, baked beans and applesauce. Some boys camped in tents while other in a surival shelter. Temperatures were in the 60s and 70s, a beautiful weekend for fun and fellowship. Capture the flag dominated late evening fun.

VISITATION - March 20
Visitation for JR was Tuesday, March 20, at
Anderson Funeral Home. Scouts and family members were encouraged to attend. JR volunteered to help with Scouting and was the husband of wife Jamie, father of daughter Anna, and two sons, Troop 33 Scouts Hunter and Wesley.

FUNERAL - March 21
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Anderson Funeral Home. JR's good friend Rev. Tom Riemenschneider, Mooseheart Chaplin, officiated the service. A large turnout of people attended requiring extra chairs to be brought out.

March 18, 2012 - Personal Management Merit Badge

we had a large class of scouts gather for the initial class of the Personal Management Merit Badge. Peronsal Management is one of the meirt badges required for advancement to Eagle Rank. Additional work will be necessary for boys to complete the merit badge.

We had some Scouts helping to set up at a Craft Show benefitting Huntley Middle School in DeKalb. They also worked to help take down at the conclusion of the event.

March 11, 2012 - Climbing Trip


CLIMBING TRIP
March 11, 2012

Our climbing trip took place at Vertical Endeavors climbing gym in Warrenville, Illinois. It's one of the largest climbing gyms in the nation. our Scouts enjoyed climbing on a simulated rock surface with an auto belay system.

March 7, 2012 - Flyers Project - March 10, 2012 - Scouting for Food Project

Hundreds of flyers were distributed to homes to publicize the upcoming Scouting for Food Project.

SCOUTING FOR FOOD

Vehicles covered several routes as we collected food from parts of southern DeKalb and Cortland, Illinois. Thousands of food items were collected and sorted for the Salvation Army Food Pantry in DeKalb, Illinois.

March 4, 2012 - Bowling Event

Scouts enjoyed an afternoon of bowling, pop and pizza. Everyone had a great time together.

PATROL LEADERS CONFERENCE
Our first event of the day was the Patrol Leaders Conference where Scouts planned our troop activities in the ffuture troop program.

PACK 134 CROSSOVER
Pack 134 of Cortland conducted a great Blue and Gold Banquet with a Hawaiian theme. Five Webelos crossed over during the Crossover Ceremony which was conducted by our Scouts Isaac and Nathan plus our OA Chapter Chief in Native American dress.

February 25, 2012 - Merit Badge University


MERIT BADGE UNIVERSITY
Elmhurst, Illinois
February 25, 2012

Over 1500 Scouts attended to 2012 Merit Badge University held at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. It was a very well organized event that provided Scouts with a great variety of merit badges to choose from. With prerequisites completed, it was possible to earn as many as four merit badges during the event.
