ORIENTEERING EVENT
October 27, 2012
Scouts worked on completing First Class requirement #2.
#2.Using a map and compass, complete an orienteering course that covers at least one mile and requires measuring the height and/or width of designated items (tree, tower, canyon, ditch, etc.)
It was a challenging and fun activity in the outdoors on a great autumn afternoon. Scouts treked cross-country, on trail, on road, for a variety of skill learning. The weather was great. A great outdoor cookout finished a fun event.
Troop 33 is sponsored by First Lutheran Church in DeKalb, Illinois and has been serving area youth since 1925. Troop 33 is a very active outdoor troop. Our troop slogan is "Always an Adventure".

CORTLAND PARADE
October 14, 2012
We rode a trailer/float in the Cortand Parade. A tornado watch made the parade more interesting. Dark threatening clouds were moving in from the southwest. Mostly the parade was dry, except for that downpour near the end. Scouts remained true to the parade, walking most of the way, despite the float, giving away candy to the crowd.

NIU FOOTBALL GAME
October 13, 2012
We cheered on the NIU Huskies Saturday at Boy Scout Day. It was the Homecoming football game, Northern Illinois Huskies vs Buffalo Bulls. About 600 Scouts attended. We got to go down on the field during halftime and high-five the Huskies as they returned to the field. It was a great win for the Huskies with a score of 45-3. The afternoon was fun watching a great game.
